Tata Motors of India is a great example. They launched Rs 1lac (about $1850) car 'Nano' on the Indian roads. It was possible because Tatas integrated their engineering expertise along with vendor relationship as well as the power to put resources into such an ambitious project

Now Tata have acquired rights for Airpod: A car that runs on compressed air.
It's even greener than electric cars. Looks cute. And can run at a good speed of 30-45 Km/hr. While it is at a prototype stage right now, with a backing like Tata I am sure it will get onto roads soon.
