Creativity and branding comes together here! — Creative Punito

Confession: I Have An Agenda!

.

It’s really interesting. The transactional economy has influenced us deeply. We look to everything with suspicion.

Let me explain.

I am a creativity coach and help people discover their true creative potential.  I have a long experience in communication industry.  In this stint, working with entrepreneurs and businessmen, I have learned to recognize the pitfalls and opportunities in given business situations.

Whenever I come across a friend or a colleague, sometimes even strangers, who have an interesting idea, I get excited. I engage with them, ask questions and push them to do things. I even put my time and efforts.

Many times people get scared. Why? Why is this guy taking so much interest in our affairs? It’s like one of those experiences n a crowded train. When an stranger talks to you sweetly, the first thing  you do is check your wallet! We feel there must be a catch!

The unasked question is, ‘Why are you doing this for me? What’s your agenda?”

So let me spell it out here: My agenda is to be a part of great initiatives which can help people grow and enjoy life. In next 3 years I want to help create 100 great initiatives which will make a difference.

Like Steve Jobs used to say: I want to make a ding in the universe!

If you want to make a difference, I might be able to sharpen your message. Our interaction may flash out many more dimensions of your project.

Next time you meet me, have an agenda. Share your ideas with me. Use me as a bouncing board.

Let us make a ding in the universe together!

Butter Sculptures!

Every now and then we keep hearing about a painting being auctioned for a phenomenal price. Many young artists dream of making it big one day.

But will you create a piece of art if it won’t last?

Jim Victor creates butter sculptures. Beautiful ones. Looks amazing in the pictures.

It’s definitely a tough choice for a material. Even body heat can melt the butter, so the artist must keep his hand numb in ice cold water. And it takes 100s of hours to create these delicate sculptures.

I wish I can meet Jim Victor and ask him, what is the feeling like when these sculptures melt away?

Winking Monalisa: An interesting campaign by Vodafone!

Just imagine this, you are on a holiday and visit an art gallery. You see ‘Monalisa’. And as you are appreciating the painting the Monalisa smiles at you. What will be your response? Won’t you be surprised? Will you tell other people?

That’s what Vodafone achieved through this activity. Brands are using the new technology to create new kind of consumer engagements. What can you do for your own brands?

Why ‘The Good Road’ is India’s official entry for Oscars?

‘The Good Road’ is India’s official entry to Oscar film festivals. I heard Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap are upset because ‘Lunch Box’ lost the race. But I am not just happy, I am excited for ‘The Good Road’.

I am among the few people who actually saw the film. Yesterday ‘The Good Road’ was trending on Twitter for various reasons. Toppling a contender like ‘Lunch Box’ was one.. It being a Gujarati film, Narendra Modi extended his good wishes and the reactions started coming in. Even from people who don’t know anything about the film.

The film has nothing to do with good roads in Gujarat! Or even about Gujarati culture. It’s universal in its appeal.

The film is primarily about an urban kid getting lost on the highway while on a holiday with his parents.

Debut Director Gyan Correa used this thread to create a narrative like a real  expert. Just a few kilometers on the road and he grips the audience. And then you will be hooked. He unfolds the story like a master storyteller who knows you just can’t go away. The film is slow paced but it grabs you with the twists and turns on the road. Everything is like it can happen in real life. You feel. “Thank God, it’s not me and my child!”

Gyan uses the narrative to highlight the emotions. Good people. ..Bad people. ..Strangers…. Uncertainties of the road…How can it happen to us….The way urban and rural life intersects in his film makes you realize the many worlds existing together.  The lost child gets on a truck and the interaction between the kid, truck driver and the cleaner is beautiful.

The mother of the kid getting lost in the Rann Of Kutch is breathtaking.  And unsettling. The debut director uses many metaphors like this to highlight the drama. It’s not just a film happening on the concrete roads. It’s a journey inside the hearts and minds of character. It transforms everyone.

There is also a side track of a little girl getting lost. She played the role beautifully well. The sound design is brilliant. Use of folk songs add a different shade to the film.

As far as Oscar entry is concerned, I haven’t seen all the contenders, but ‘The God Road’ has all the elements for the international jury. The gripping narrative, human emotions, cultural contrasts, metaphorical storytelling. And something that can’t be expressed.

So why should Karan Johars of the world be upset? One is personal affinity for a particular film. That’s human and natural.

They should be happy too for the Indian Cinema. It needs rebels like Gyan who can take such risks. There are no big stars in ‘The Good Road’. In fact most of the actors are real life people. Shyam Ji Bhai, the actor who played the truck driver never saw a cinema hall in his life! He is a truck driver and must be driving his truck somewhere right now!

There is a real message here to all those rebels out there. You can mark your presence without needing expensive cast and movie stars. The real hero on ‘The Good Road’ is the director, who tells us a narrative without intruding himself into it.

Let us wish the best for ‘The Good Road’!

And make it a point to watch it!

The Riddle That Can Change Your Life! Really?

Do you like riddles? Then you will enjoy every bit of it.

If you don’t like riddles…what are you doing here?

May be you want to know how a riddle can change things in life?

In any case I am sure you know mathematics.

If I ask you how much is 2 + 2? You will know it’s 4.
I also believe you know the difference between crows and squirrels.

If yes, below the picture is the riddle that you are waiting for:

The Riddle:

There are-

76 crows

14 parrots and

10 squirrels on a tree.

A hunter with a big gun approaches dangerously close to the tree.

Crows are fighting between them for a piece of bone, so they don’t notice.

Squirrels hide in a tree hole,

Parrots notice the hunter and decide to fly.

Now, without scrolling up…tell us:

How many birds are left on the tree??

It’s simple. Isn’t it?

Now scroll down a little and check your answer. You will be surprised!

Some people are quick to answer:

76 crows are left on the tree. They know squirrels are not birds.

Many people heard this kind of puzzle in their childhood and they are quick to tell us:

NONE!

When a hunter fires the gun, all birds will fly!

You can see a big smile on their face.

But both of these answers are not correct.
Because the riddle tells us, ‘hunter approaches’ the tree. There is no firing of gun yet.

The correct answer is: 90!

Yes…90. There are 76 crows and 14 parrots on the tree.

I can hear some of you protesting, “But parrots decided to fly!”

That’s where lies the real lesson:

They just DECIDED. They haven’t flown yet.

Deciding something doesn’t make a difference. Until and unless there is an action on that decision, status quo remains.

That’s why new year resolutions to exercise everyday don’t make a difference to our physical form. We don’t lose weight by ‘deciding’ to run everyday. We must RUN.

Until and unless a sales person implements his ‘decision’ to call at least 50 new prospects every month, he won’t double his income.

And if you daydream all the time and ‘decide’ to propose the girl you love, you won’t have her attention.

We must DO something!

All of us know, what we want. We know the difference between ‘decision’ and ‘doing’, as we know squirrels from the crows.

So, let’s DO something to change the status quo!

Let us not say, ‘I want to create an internet business.’ Let us write a business report that we can promote.

Let us not ‘decide’ to write a book someday. Create a list of possible book titles. Make a chapter outline. And the thing will be done!

And yes, as some of you might be thinking, we don’t need to wait for someone to fire the gun!

Let’s FLY!
